Danico has been crowned Best Bar in France at the inaugural French Bar Awards 2026, the country's first national bar ranking, unveiled on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in Paris. The list was established by 549 professionals from the French bar, cocktail and spirits industry, voting from across 59 of the country's départements.

The Paris venue leads ahead of The Cambridge Public House and Bar Nouveau, with Madame Pang in Bordeaux securing fourth place and the strongest result outside the capital. Mesures, De Vie, Superfine (all Paris), Carry Nation (Marseille), Abstract Bistrot (Paris) and Symbiose (Bordeaux) round out the Top 10.

The 100 bars span 23 cities across 13 regions, with 61 of them based outside Paris. Lyon leads the regional charge with 12 entries, headed by Abstract House of Monochromes at #13, followed by Bordeaux (8 bars), Marseille (6) and Toulouse (5). The ranking also marks a first inclusion of a French overseas territory in a national best bars ranking, with NOLA (#37) in Saint-Denis, Réunion Island.

The full list of the 549 jurors is publicly available at frenchbarawards.fr, an approach with no equivalent in the current international rankings. With 64% of voters being bartenders, bar managers and bar owners, the panel is largely composed of professionals working behind the stick daily.

"This ranking brings to light a reality that existing lists hadn't sufficiently reflected: the French bar scene lives, reinvents itself and excels right across the country," said Frédéric Roginska, founder of the French Bar Awards.

Following its Top 100 of the country's bars, the project led by DISTILCUTS will also publish in the upcoming months a dedicated ranking spotlighting the most inspiring personalities of the French bar scene, alongside a double ranking honoring classic cocktails.
