A Two-Part Final: At Sea and on Land

The day began spectacularly in the Bay of Quiberon, aboard the catamaran Les Îliens, where the ten finalists presented – at sea (!) – their original creations before a panel of experts and 80 special guests.

This first round, which saw contestants brimming with creativity in terms of recipes, glassware, ice, and even color choices, singled out the four best candidates for the next stage of the competition: Klervi Laurent, Louis Navarrete, Jocelyn Soubise, and Florian Bouyer.

Once that initial ranking was done, the next event took place in the afternoon at La Potinière for a new challenge, this time in pairs.

Klervi Laurent and Louis Navarrete thus faced off against Florian Bouyer and Jocelyn Soubise in a daunting challenge: creating a cocktail and a mocktail to accompany a dish prepared by Charles Moreau, chef at Granit (Plouharnel).

The atmosphere was electric, buoyed by the energetic hosting of Stéphane Monnier, the announcer for the Rugby Club Vannes, and once again featured top-notch cocktails.

Four Talents, One Winner

After much deliberation, the jury (made up of Charles Moreau, Chef of Granit, Charlotte Crenn, creator of the Nantes Cocktail Club, Axel Pencolé, founder of Unimix and winner of the first B.B.C edition, and Chris Jumentier, Beverage/Advocacy Consultant at Heads & Legs and Spirits Guardians) finally made their decision!

Louis Navarrete (Le Gloster, Paris) was named the grand winner of this 2024 Bartender Beach Challenge, with his creativity and technical expertise standing out throughout the day.

The podium lineup is as follows:

  1. Jocelyn Soubise (Le Bar du Crystal, Nancy)
  2. Florian Bouyer (La Potinière, Carnac)
  3. Klervi Laurent (Ti Beudeff, Groix)

A big congratulations to them as well!

Not to forget, of course, the other finalists: Johan Schots (Le Musikam), Maurine Vayret (Bar Louise), Baptiste Alix (The WestPort Inn), Ben Raza (Bloom Pop Brewpub), Kévin Carlier (Les Elixirs) and Théo Villars (Diamonds Bar).

A Promising Future for the Bartender Beach Challenge

With almost 50 applications received, the success of this second edition reaffirms the organizers’ goal of making the Bartender Beach Challenge a must-attend event for bar professionals in France.

We’re thrilled about that, and we’re already looking forward to the next edition of this competition.

Jigger Daily will, of course, keep you posted as soon as all of this is announced!
