EL DORADO RUM PREPARES TO HOST ITS SECOND GLOBAL COCKTAIL COMPETITION IN GUYANA

World leading Guyanese rum prepares to host its second annual global cocktail competition celebrating the heritage of El Dorado around the world in the US, UK, Canada, Trinidad, Germany, France, Norway, Australia, and Guyana.

April 2025 - El Dorado Rum, one of the world’s leading rum brands, is preparing to host the Global Final of their second annual cocktail competition, El Dorado Rum Heritage Cocktail Competition, from the 9th to the 10th of April 2025. The competition presents ten bartenders coming from all around the world with the opportunity to capture their journey and interpretation of the brand's heritage, which dates to 1670.

Following regional competitions, the global final will see the winners Shelley Bowers (House of Bamboo, California, United States), Steven Huddleston (Stir (by SQ1), Florida, United States), Benedetta Paris (Happiness Forgets, United Kingdom), Erick Lerch (Mother Cocktail Bar, Ontario, Canada), Nizel Waldron (Ace Bar Services, Trinidad), Fabio Kaufmann (Residenz Heinz Winkler, Germany), Charles Portail (Sauvage, France), Andreas Ording (Boho House, Norway), Daniel Hilton (Kitty Hawk, Australia), and Romel Persaud (Therapy Cocktails, Guyana) present their cocktails to replace, Mike Dojcsak (Canada), winner of last year’s first edition. These finalists have been awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to the renowned Diamond Distillery - the home of El Dorado Rum and Guyana’s last remaining distillery, situated on the banks of the Demerara River.

Spread over two days, the Global Finals will be offering finalists an in-depth experience of Guyanese culture, lifestyle, and heritage, before they showcase their final creations to the distinguished panel of judges. In the first round of the competition, participants will be presenting the winning cocktail that told a story reflecting their legacy, journey, and interpretation of heritage. In the second, finalists will present a different creation that highlights the complexity and depth of El Dorado Single Still Rums, using ingredients found during their visit to the local market. The winning serve will be tasted and judged by renowned industry professionals Shaun Caleb, Master Distiller, Demerara Distillers Limited; Marie King, International Rum and Cocktail Specialist of the US, and Timo Janse, Bar Owner, Celebrated Bartender and Cocktail Aficionado of Spain.

Announced on the last day of the competition, Thursday, April 10th, the global champion of the El Dorado Rum Heritage Competition will be provided with $5000 USD as well as a collection of rare El Dorado Rums.
